electriclime° are delighted to welcome Nick Sullivan to the director’s roster.
Nick is an Australian director and editor who began his career producing music television for Channel [V] and then later MTV.
With a strong emphasis on bold concepts and creativity, collaboration is at the heart of every project he works on. With a background in editing, he uses the best mediums, formats and techniques available to achieve the best result.
Nick moves seamlessly between branded content, television and music videos and loves using simple visual tricks to develop his stories.
electriclime° will represent Nick on a freelance basis in Australia and exclusively in MENA and Asia.

How did you get started in the industry?
I got my start in music television, working on different long-form shows before moving to reality television and then into branded content. It was on these earlier jobs that I was able to learn and grow as a storyteller and editor, working with skilled crews and producing content for a vast array of audiences.
Since then I’ve shifted away from editing and cinematography to focus solely on my work as a director and filmmaker – collaborating with brands, agencies and clients to bring their stories to life.
What’s your favourite part of the filmmaking process?
I love being on set. I think there’s something addictive about being among a group of like-minded people all working hard to bring the vision to life. Watching a concept evolve from an idea on a piece of paper into a thought-provoking film can be incredibly rewarding.
What do you find most challenging/difficult about the filmmaking process?
I think balancing your creative vision with any logistical restraints. You can have everything shot-listed to a tee but there’s always changing variables you’ll have to account for when shooting – actors, locations, weather etc. By being confident in yourself, working with a crew you trust and knowing the brand and messaging you can counteract any hiccups along the way.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I draw a lot of inspiration from the town I grew up in, Newcastle – The people, the scenery, the relationships and the working class culture there. I’ve also always loved music videos as an art form and find myself searching them out regularly.
Is there a particular moment or film in your directorial career that you are most proud of?
There’s not a stand alone moment but I’d say just the ability to be able to travel the world to make films I’m proud of with amazing people that have become good friends.
How do you see the future of filmmaking in the advertising industry?
I think there’ll be opportunity to get wildly creative as new technologies emerge. As media is constantly being consumed in different ways, by staying versatile and aware of new trends, films will be able to reach a variety of targeted audiences. In saying that, whilst an ads distribution or consumption will change, films and content will still be underpinned by good storytelling that connects with an audience.
